The Divine Life of Swami Keshavanandaji Maharaj, Direct Disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya Part 4

“Although uninvited, Sati – the incarnation of Adi Parashakti – was excited and determined to go to the great yajna (fire ceremony) arranged by her father, Daksha Maharaj.  It was an excellent opportunity to review his mother and family. Maharaj Daksha had invited all Devatas, Rishis and great saintly personalities of the universe, except Shiva (the husband of Sati) to whom he harbored deep antipathy.”

The Patriarch of many nations (Prajapati), Daksha Maharaj, represents the old religious beliefs and ideas of the Vedic Age which did not accept the Yoga paths represented by Shiva. Indeed, Daksha felt threatened by the followers of these paths for whom the project of union with the Supreme Brahman was the only true, the only necessary, the one who deserved all the preference.

Continue reading

The Systemic and Dynamic Aspect of Kriya Yoga

Shares

One of the most common trends of Yoga was focus on the isolated and individual treatment for each unit of the subtle or etheric body, that is to say, in the wake of the immanent properties of each unit. The very meaning of the word “Yoga” – that is to converge the mind to a single focus – seems be diluted when it loses the sense of conjunct in practice of this Yogism.

In general, studies of the subtle body – with its cakras, nadis, etc. – do not exceed the unit and not even dealing with its systemic aspect. In most cases, they work up the units separately, outside the conjunct. This little handy perspective, but very adopted, was encouraged by Tantric Yoga which uses abundantly mantras, yantras, rituals, and visualizations, to awaken the inner powers (Siddhis) of each unit.Continue reading

It had been 45 minutes, and the master still remained motionless, in a breathless state. Silence reigned in the poorly furnished room, beacuse that house – in the suburb of Howra, Kolkata – was meant only to Sat-sanghas of the master with his disciples. Little by little, people paid their obeisance and left the room, while other disciples lengthened their legs and made maha-mudra.Continue reading
